So far, Puma had been the only one put out their line of jerseys that their teams will be wearing during the World Cup, and it was only for their Africa teams. Now adidas has joined in the fun and has been revealing one or two new national team home jerseys per day all this week! while not all of these teams have officially qualified for the World Cup yet, these are the uniforms that the national teams will be wearing next year, and all of them hope to be sporting them in South Africa.
Here’s a rundown of what’s been released so far this week and what you can look forward to over the weekend…
Things got kicked off this week with the release of the new Argentina home jersey.
Argentina struggled through the South America qualifiers and many were wondering if this would be the first time in recent history in which the team would not be participating in the World Cup. However, some late round heroics clinched the final qualifying spot for the region and you can expect nothing but determination from this squad in South Africa.

Greece is set to face off with Ukraine on the first leg of the European World Cup qualifying playoffs this Saturday. they will definitely be a team to keep an eye on as they are known to be a team full of surprises after their 2004 performance in the European Championship.
3rd, Japan’s new home jersey was revealed…
Japan was the second highest qualifier from the Asia region and has now qualified for the past 4 consecutive World Cups. As they head to South Africa, this will be the jersey they wear. The squad begin getting attention when the won the 1992 Asian Cup, and their success has continued to build from there. Always trying to build on their international soccer presence, you can expect to see them at their highest level next summer.
Mexico marked the midweek with the release of their new home jersey.
Having qualified for every World Cup since 1990, it wasn’t expected that 2010 would be missing their presence. Mexico held didn’t disappoint as they clinched their spot behind the US in the CONCACAF region. The release of the Mexico jersey not only includes the standard replica jersey, but also a Limited Edition version that will be identical to the jersey worn by players on the field and comes in a commemorative gift box.
The World Cup host country got their release as well with the South Africa home jersey appearing yesterday.
South Africa received an automatic bid to the World Cup as the host country for the event. You can expect with home crowds that they will a tough opponent for anyone they face. The is also a Limited Edition version of this jersey available as well at Soccer.com.
Making an appearance alongside South Africa yesterday was Germany’s new home jersey.
Once more Germany will be joining the field of teams for the World Cup. Having won 3 World Cups and 3 European championships, they are never a team to be taken lightly in international play. It should be an interesting showing however, due to a revamped playing style that they have developed over the past couple of years. Again, check out the LE version of the jersey as well as it will be a major selling item among die hard fans.
That brings us up to today where we have just been shown the new Russia home jersey…
While no one is really doubting that Russia will be in South Africa next summer, but they still have to clear the qualification playoffs. Russia has steadily climbed the FIFA rankings since their strong showing in last years European Championship and have proven to be a fierce squad this year in qualification play. Soccer.com is also carrying a Limited Edition Russia home jersey as well, though it’s so fresh that it hasn’t even been revealed at the time of this post!
So what’s left? Spain is also slated for their new home jersey to be revealed today though the images have not shown up on the Soccer.com site just yet.
